Nathan Patterson in fitness clue as Everton star vents Scotland frustration with veiled injury update

Sidelined Nathan Patterson has offered an update on his injury status as he missed Scotland's clash with the Republic of Ireland.

Patterson will visit a top specialist on Tuesday as his anxious wait for news on his latest injury set back rumbles on. The Scotland and Everton kid was stretchered off at Hampden on Wednesday night after going down during the victory over Ukraine. The 20-year-old withdrew from Steve Clarke’s squad the following day as he headed straight back to the Toffee’s Finch Farm training base to have scans on both his knee and ankle and missed the Nations League showdown with Ireland.

And Record Sport understands there will be no further update on the length of his potential lay off until he visits an expert medic on Tuesday, which both Clarke and Goodison Park boss Frank Lampard will be eagerly awaiting the results of after his impressive start to the English Premier League. Ahead of the Nations League clash at Hampden, Patterson offered an update for concerned punters.

Sharing a snap of himself looking dejecting on the touchline on Twitter, Patterson said: "My face whenever I miss a game.

So far, so good and keeping fingers crossed for positive news this week. Good luck to the Scotland boys tonight."
