Nathan Patterson dismisses Rangers exit 'second thoughts' as he lifts lid on emotional Everton adjustment

Nathan Patterson admits his emotional Rangers exit weighed on his mind before sealing his move to Everton. But he insists he's never had "second thoughts" as he begins to establish himself under Frank Lampard at Goodison Park.

Scotland defender Patterson had a topsy-turvy start to life on Merseyside with a serious injury thwarting his development, while Seamus Coleman and even Jonjoe Kenny were initially ahead of him in the pecking order. He's returned from the summer break with a bang, though, playing 90 minutes of both of Everton 's Premier League games this season and making himself first-choice.

His £15m switch from Rangers finally appears to be paying off but Patterson insists that even when he was struggling last season, he never doubted his decision to take the leap. And while it was "difficult" to leave Ibrox after spending his whole career there, the 20-year-old says he's thriving now he's had time to adjust.

He told Football Daily : "Obviously, it was different for me being at Rangers all my career and then moving away from home. It was difficult. But it was an exciting challenge, and I feel like I've settled in quite well.

"It took a bit of time to get to know all the different lads and the coaching staff, but I've enjoyed my time here so far. It was difficult (to leave), but I think it was quite an easy decision to come to the best league in the world. There was no second thought for me to be honest, and a massive club like Everton made it an easy decision."
