Emphatic Nathan Patterson claim made

Scotland manager Steve Clarke has shared his delight at the performance of Nathan Patterson in Thursday's friendly with Poland.

The Everton right-back was handed a start for his national side despite struggling for minutes on Merseyside and he was one of the standout players on the pitch in the 67 minutes he featured. The former Rangers man showed speed, dribbling skill and defensive appetite in his role on the right flank.

They are attributes those who frequent Goodison Park have not yet savoured to any great extent, with the youngster playing just 45 minutes of football since moving from Rangers in January. That despite the struggles of Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny in the full-back spots.

Warrington on dream Everton rise after stunning impact

As a general rule, Lewis Warrington tries to be the best at everything he does, so it is little wonder the 19-year-old has carried his winning mentality from the municipal fields of Liscard via Finch Farm to Prenton Park.

The promising teenager has found himself catapulted across the River Mersey into the cut and thrust of a League Two promotion race with Tranmere Rovers, after joining the Birkenhead side on loan from parent club Everton on transfer deadline day.

The central midfielder has taken to the task like a duck to water and despite some disappointing results for Rovers, he has quickly established himself in the starting XI and already become a fan favourite.

Born into a family of die-hard Evertonians on the Wirral, Warrington originally lived in Seacombe before moving to Liscard, where the seeds of his football journey were planted.
