Nate Diaz calls out WWE legend The Rock after leaving UFC following final fight

Nate Diaz has joked he will only fight The Rock after the UFC legend was linked with a move to the WWE.

Diaz fought in the final outing of his UFC contract when he choked out Tony Ferguson earlier this month, which saw him become a free agent for the first time in several years. The UFC veteran's future looked to be in the boxing ring, with Diaz discussing a number of possible lucrative bouts including a third meeting with Conor McGregor and a fight with Jake Paul.

This week Diaz was pictured spending time with wrestling promotion WWE's Chief Content Officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque and his wife Stephanie McMahon, with former UFC counterpart Henry Cejudo suggesting he is looking to make an appearance with the organisation. And Diaz has made a fresh claim that could signal his future, writing on Twitter : "I'm only going to fight The Rock. Otherwise I’m good."

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was known for his sensational rise to fame during the WWE's attitude era where he wrestled for eight years during the late 1990s and onwards to become arguably the promotion's leading name. He then went on to pursue a hugely successful acting career which has seen him become one of the most high-profile figures on the planet.

Diaz has previously exchanged verbal barbs with 'The Rock' which began when he was defeated by Jorge Masvidal back in November 2019, and the personality presented his rival with the 'BMF' belt. ”F**k The Rock too, man,” Diaz said after losing to Masvidal at UFC 244. “That motherf***er over here playing me. See him over here smiling with Masvidal. Should have had Mike Tyson handing out a belt if anybody. I don’t give a f*** about any belt anyway, but he can get it too.”

Johnson was not surprised by Diaz's comments and responded: “I wasn’t surprised at Nate’s comments because that’s the Nate Diaz that we all know and love,” Johnson said. “He is as advertised. Nate, he gets it. So there’s a connection, so no I was totally fine with it. He gets it.”

Most recently, during the press conference for Diaz's victory over Ferguson, the UFC star hit out at Johnson's latest shoe line by ripping the footwear from his feet and criticising his new venture with sportswear brand Under Armour. It is unclear if the former wrestler would be willing to turn back the clock and return to the WWE.

Diaz has set up his own promotional compa0ny but has yet to fully disclose plans for his future, despite having been heavily linked with a boxing debut. The 37-year-old has claimed that he would like to 'take over' another sport outside of the UFC in a bid to get one up on his bitter rival McGregor.
