Nate Diaz shuts down Jake Paul's attempt to intimidate him ahead of grudge fight

Nate Diaz used just four words to shut down Jake Paul's attempt at intimidating him ahead of the pair's boxing fight next month in Dallas.

The UFC legend has been made a huge underdog with bookies' ahead of his boxing debut against YouTube star Paul, who is 6-1 as a professional boxer. But that hasn't stopped him from being incredibly confident after an intensive training camp for his first fight since leaving MMA's top promotion last year.

Ahead of their August 5 meeting at the American Airlines Center, the pair joined the Pat McAfee Show for a joint interview last night. Neither man was keen to get too deep into the trash talking, but Paul did insist that he would be a completely different fighter from the man who was most recently defeated by Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia.

"I'm glad that he's watched all my fights," Paul said. "Study the film man, it's going to be a completely different fighter and you're preparing for someone completely different. So, you're making a big mistake by trying to look at any of my footage and compare me to anything that I'm gonna be doing in that ring." Diaz simply replied: "That's what they say."

The pair were relatively respectful once they were on the air together, but Paul was irritated by his opponent showing up late and insisted that he would knock out Diaz as punishment. He branded his 38-year-old rival a "kid" and a "punk" before eventually being joined on the air after a few minutes.

"The dude's been really unprofessional, and I'm going make him pay," Paul complained. "This is valuable time. This is one of the biggest sports shows in the world and he just stands us both up bro. This kids a punk. He's a bully. He thinks he can do whatever he wants and August 5 I'm gonna make him pay for all the s*** he's done."

Paul and Diaz's fight will be the social media star's latest effort against a former UFC star, having previously defeated legendary champions Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley. He has put down all six of his opponents as a professional, even dropping Fury in his first defeat as a professional.
