Nate Diaz has claimed that a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor is a certainty, and that it will happen "for sure."
McGregor and Diaz have already had two of the most famous fights in UFC history. The American handed McGregor his first loss in the UFC in 2016, while 'The Notorious' got revenge later that year taking home a majority decision win in an instant classic at UFC 202.
A trilogy fight between the two has long been mooted, but a number of things like McGregor's boxing adventure with Floyd Mayweather and Diaz's semi-retirement have conspired to delay a third bout. Diaz however, remains confident that the two foes will face off again some day.

"The timing’s not on right now," Diaz told Inside Fighting : "
"We’ll worry about that later. It’s for sure going to happen at some point. Yeah, at some point.
"He needs to get back on what he’s got to do, whatever that is.
"It’s like, when we match up, we’re going to match up. But we ain’t going nowhere.”
Since their second fight with each other, both athletes have sat on the sidelines for long periods of time. McGregor fought Eddie Alvarez and won the UFC Lightweight belt a few months after Diaz McGregor II, but has fought only four times inside the Octagon since and has lost on three of those occasions.
Diaz took three years off after the rematch with McGregor and has fought just three times in six years. The Stockton brawler is due to fight Khamzat Chimaev this weekend at UFC 279. That fight has been thrown into doubt after Chimaev missed weight by over eight pounds early on Friday.
