Nat Phillips shares farewell message as Celtic loan ends

Nat Phillips has shared a farewell message with Celtic supporters after returning to Liverpool.

The central defender, 26, had joined Celtic on loan in the summer but has now returned to his parent club.

Phillips had only joined on a six-month loan deal and it appears it will not be extended as the player exited Parkhead this month.

The defender played just eight times for Celtic during his spell in Glasgow.

On Instagram, Phillips posted: "It was a pleasure and a privilege to represent @celticfc and their supporters.

"I wish everyone at the club all the best for the rest of the season and the future 🍀💚"

Celtic team-mates hailed Phillips on his exit with Alistair Johnston commenting: "Will miss you caveman 🤝🏼❤️"

And Matt O'Riley simply added: "💚💚💚"

On Phillips, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: “With Nat we have to see. We have to consider our own situation, stuff like this. He will definitely be with us until the end of the month. We will have talks and see our situation, that’s how it is.

“We really think highly actually of both, to be honest, because of the things the boys did when they were here. Now Nat, I’m not sure he would say it worked out 100 percent at Celtic.

“A little bit with injuries, but then if a team like Celtic is in a positive moment and you are in the team, then you stay in the team; if it’s not a positive moment and you are in the team, then you might go out. That says nothing about the quality. Nat will train with us, and then we will see how that develops.”
