Recently widespread interest in the butterfly top has resurfaced, since its debut back in the noughties. On TikTok, the hashtag #butterflytop has been raking in over 22 million views, with influencers garnering traction for fashion hauls featuring the famous top.
With festival season on us, Y2K fashion has been dominating every fashion lover’s mood board, with superstars such as Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa and the Coachella queen herself, Vanessa Hudgens, bringing back the butterfly top.
The bedazzled top was originated by French designer Emanuel Ungaro, which was made popular by celeb icons such as Salma Hayek and Mariah Carey in the 2000s, which was later revived by high-end retailer, AREA. Other affordable sellers have continued the trend by producing their own takes of the top, including Nasty Gal.
In other Nasty Gal related news, the firm has released a festival themed collection, from swishy leather tassels, crochet, to glitter and sequins, that will keep attendees glam all day and night, even when tackling festival porta potties.
With 793 products included in the range from £3.20 up to £175.50, the collection offers a range of dresses, shoes, outdoor wear and accessories, fitting for any occasion.
