Nasser Hussain highlights key Harry Brook attitude trait as star rescued England innings

Harry Brook has enjoyed a stunning first away tour with the England Test team, striking three consecutive centuries against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, Multan and Karachi.

Brook has now scored 480 runs in his first six Test innings, breaking a 125-year-old record set by KS Ranjitsinhji who enjoyed the most prolific start to an England Test career when he scored 418 runs in his first six innings in 1897.

As a result of his magnificent performances, Brook has earned plenty of plaudits for his strokemaking, power and the way in which he has scored his runs. But former England captain Nasser Hussain has also been impressed by Brook's character and attitude, writing in a column for the Daily Mail : "I've really enjoyed his temperament too.

"You could see after he ran out Ben Stokes that he wasn't going to let it get on top of him, just as you could see when he reached three figures that he wasn't going to over-celebrate. Scoring runs is just what he does. In fact, it's what he expects to do.

"That attitude should stand in him good stead for years to come. Brook apologised [for the run out], but then gathered his thoughts again.

"Other players might have over-reacted to what happened. But Brook quickly moved on. He's not going to get too down. Equally, he's not going to think he's suddenly made it."

Brook has got his opportunity in the Test team as a result of Jonny Bairstow's freak leg break and the 23-year-old knows his impressive form has left England with a major selection dilemma when Bairstow returns.

"Most selectors say they like headaches, so hopefully I've caused a very big migraine," Brook said. "It's too hard to say at the minute. I think Jonny is one of the best players, if not the best player in the world – he was this summer anyway.

"So for me, he comes straight back in the side. Obviously I'm not selecting the team but he's such a big player for the side and he has been for so many years."
