NASHIK : A 24-year-old person lodged at the Nashik Road Central Prison recently in connection to theft cases, when taken into custody by the police again for investigating other burglaries, confessed to have committed three more burglaries and gave the police stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 4.5 lakh.
The burglar is identified as Abhishek Uddhav Vishwakarma, resident of Swami Nagar, near Mahalakshmi Nagar, Ambad.
A complaint of house breaking theft near Siddharth Hotel along Nashik Pune Road was registered with the Upnagar police station on May 1.
During the course of investigation of this burglary case under the guidance of CP Jayant Naiknavare, the Upnagar police had received information that Vishwakarma had a hand in concerned theft following which he was transferred from the central prison to their custody for interrogation through court permission.
During the custodial interrogation Vishwakarma confessed about the burglary near Siddharth Hotel and even gave information of two more burglaries committed by him.
The police recovered gold jewellery worth over 135 grams from Vishwakarma.
CP Naiknavare felicitated senior PI Nilesh Mainkar of the Upnagar police station and other officials for the outstanding detection.
Vishwakarma and two other criminals were arrested by the Ambad police last month for involvement in a total 14 theft cases. The police had seized cash and other articles worth over Rs 20 lakh from the trio, who were wanted by the police for three years.
Vishwakarma was also involved in a murder in the Ambad area on August 31, 2021.
