Brandon Brown, the Nascar driver who said he was saddened by the emergence of the anti-Biden meme “Let’s Go Brandon”, has now endorsed a crypto coin based on it just days later.
Brown recently signed a sponsorship deal for the Let’s Go Brandon Coin (LGBCoin).
This will mean that a reference to the troublesome chant will be painted out in full display on his car.
On Thursday, Brown took to his Twitter to announce the deal, noting that partnering with the coin is “incredible” to their “team’s growth.”
I’m excited to welcome @LGBcoin_io aboard my No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro as our 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series full season primary partner!

This deal will see his No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro painted with the coin’s name.
“Having the financial support of LGBcoin is incredible, especially at such a pivotal time in our team’s growth as we work to build to the next level of competition,” Brown said in a press release.
Brown embracing the coin is a step back from his position two weeks ago.

In a New York Times interview with Ben Smith, Brown said that he grew concerned as the chant grew in popularity.
“This whole Talladega race win was supposed to be a celebration, and then it was supposed to be something that I was able to use to move up, and I really wanted to capitalize on that,” Brown told Smith.
Brown also said that he had “zero desire to be involved in politics.”
A spokesman for Brown’s racing team had also reached out to Smith when they realised that waiting for the “storm” to cease wasn’t working and said that “[Brown’s] silence on the matter seemed to be a political statement.”
People on social media had a lot to say as Brown’s LGBCoin deal seemed to have turned this into a positive moment for him.
“Why did he lie and say he hated that the phrase was associated with his name and that he was having a hard time getting sponsors as a result?” someone wrote.
“I want to see who your other sponsors are so I can boycott them,” another added.
A third wrote: “I’m old enough to remember when @brandonbrown_68 made a huge media tour saying he didn’t want to be associated with LGB....quite the turn of events here. To each their own, and folks have the right to say whatever they want...but don’t say one thing and do another.”
While seemingly attempting to take a dunk on Let’s Go Brandon fans, former CBS anchor Dan Rather tweeted out his own take on the chant.
“#LetsGoBrandonReallyMeans “You can’t handle the truth,” he wrote.
This didn’t go over too well as people called him out on his past.
Rather stepped down from his anchor role at CBS after airing a report that allegedly showcased forged documents that questioned President Bush’s service while in the National Guard.

That’s embarrassing. I’m embarrassed for you. @NASCAR should be ashamed.

“I have no interest in leading some political fight. I race cars. I am not going to endorse anyone, and I am certainly not going to tell anyone how to vote.”

The Let’s Go Brandon chant occurred after NBC reporter Kelli Stavast assumed that the crowd was chanting “Let’s go Brandon!” in support of Brown’s win at the Nascar race at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway. However, the crowd was actually shouting, “F*** Joe Biden.”
