NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams finally returned to Earth on Tuesday after a nine-month delay caused by a failed Boeing test flight.
Their SpaceX capsule parachuted into the Gulf of Mexico near Tallahassee, Florida, hours after leaving the International Space Station.
Originally set for a brief mission, the astronauts faced repeated setbacks before NASA arranged an alternate return.
They will undergo medical checks before heading home. Their journey began with Boeing’s troubled Starliner launch last June, forcing an unexpected and prolonged stay in space.
