Following SpaceX's seventh test flight of the Starship and the successful booster catch, outgoing NASA administrator Bill Nelson took to Twitter to offer his congratulations and words of encouragement. In his tweet, Nelson acknowledged the challenges of spaceflight, emphasizing that each test brings us closer to our goals of lunar exploration and eventually reaching Mars through the Artemis program.
NASA has ambitious plans to utilize the Starship for its upcoming Artemis III mission, which aims to land astronauts on the moon. The mission is currently scheduled for a launch in mid-2027. To support this endeavor, NASA has entered into an agreement with SpaceX, committing over $4 billion for the development of the Starship, the 2027 moon landing mission, and an additional crewed mission in the future.
