The Champions League group-stage draw could have been kinder to Liverpool but the layers still expect them to emerge top of the Group A pile and three points in Naples on Wednesday will go a long way to securing that.
Liverpool, who are 2/7 to top their section, are even money to pick up three points in Italy this week while Napoli, a 13/2 chance to top Group A, are 5/2 to deal an early blow to the Reds European hopes.
This is the third time since 2018 that Liverpool and Napoli have been drawn in the same section and none of the four matches between these sides in that time have produced more than two goals. Furthermore, the Reds have been beaten on both of their trips to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium so, given their current issues, it requires a certain amount of bravery to go steaming into Liverpool at Even money to win this fixture.

Napoli are one of four unbeaten teams in Serie A but draws at Fiorentina and Lecce have put the breaks on their momentum after winning their opening two games. However, Luciano Spalletti’s side come into this game full of confidence after coming from behind to beat Lazio by two goals to one on Saturday and their +8 goal difference is the best in Serie A right now.
Liverpool won all of their group stage games last season and all six matches on the road, so confidence should be high despite the Reds' inconsistent start to the domestic season. However, Napoli have won five of their six Champions League home matches against English clubs and have lost just one of their past 12 Champions League group stage games.

Liverpool went close to winning a quadruple last season but they don't look the same side so far this term and they are giving up an unusually high number of chances to the opposition.
Napoli don't have any problems creating chances and scoring goals so expect the hosts to cause Liverpool problems in a fixture that doesn't look anything like as straightforward as the odds imply. That said, Liverpool's record on the road in this competition is strong and they have more than enough firepower to match Napoli here. In what might not be a high scoring game, the draw looks a big runner at 13/5.
