Napoli ace Kim Min-jae hits out at ongoing transfer speculation amid Manchester United links

Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae has blasted ongoing speculation about his future amid links with a summer move to Manchester United.

The South Korea international, 26, joined Napoli from Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahce last July and has excelled in his debut campaign in Italy. He has played a key role in helping the Italian side position themselves at the top of the Serie A table and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the very first time in their history.

He has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Luciano Spalletti's side this term, chipping in with two goals in the process. He has produced a string of consistently strong performances, establishing himself, in Spalletti's opinion, as the "best centre-back in the world".

That has meant that he has been linked with a plethora of big-name clubs from right across Europe in recent months, including United. The Reds have frequently been linked with a move for the former Beijing Guoan ace, despite being well-stocked at centre-back.

Nevertheless, Kim has played down the ongoing speculation about his future, describing it as "not true at all". He has also made it clear that he is fully focused on matters in Naples.

"As you know, those rumours are not true at all," said Kim. "I want to focus on my team. I have many tournaments to play.

"It's been for years I have had these rumours. It's uncomfortable. I wish you don't spread those stories.

"I cannot be bothered by transfer rumours because they aren't true. Now I'm focusing on the team, rather than that kind of nonsense. There are so many important matches to go and right now I only want to focus on Napoli."
