We all love to eat out and when we have had a good meal and great service, you may want to leave a tip.
But you may wonder where exactly the tip goes and how much of the money actually goes towards the staff who serve you. And is any of that tip taken by the company you are dining with?
We spoke to some of your favourite chain restaurants with outlets in Wales to ask them what their policy on tipping is...

Las Iguanas and Bella Italia
The Big Table Group, which is the operator of Las Iguanas and Bella Italia, said: "All customer cash tips and service charges are kept by restaurant employees in full.”
Pizza Express
Pizza Express say that all tips go to the team at the restaurants.
A spokesperson for the pizza chain said: "100% of tips go to the team in the restaurant. PizzaExpress take no admin charges, and we even pay any fees charged by the credit card company so that 100% of tips go to the restaurant team.”

Nando's

The company said that tips are split equally among staff members.
A spokesman for the popular chicken restaurant said: “Tips are welcome and there’s a tip jar at the till which is split equally between the staff.”
Due to Covid, customers now pay at the table via an app rather that at the tills.
Harvester and Toby Carvery

Mitchells and Butlers said that they don't take any share of employees tips.
A spokesman said: "We don’t take any share of our employees’ tips. The individual team within each restaurant decide on how both cash and credit card tips should be split.
"A team meeting is held once a year to decide how tips are allocated. This way there is the flexibility for tips to be shared with both our front of house and kitchen teams."
TGI Friday's

Friday's recently had a re-brand at the beginning of last year meaning the emphasis of the name is now on Fridays rather than TGI Fridays.
A spokesperson said staff at the restaurant are able to keep 100% of their tips, no percentages go to management and there are no administration fees.
Pizza Hut

The pizza restaurant said its policy was for all tips to go to their team members.
A spokesperson for Pizza Hut Restaurants said: “Cash tips are kept by your server who can choose to distribute as they wish. Electronic or card tips are divided via a tronc system. We do not take any admin charge or percentage of tips made in cash or by card. 100% of our tips go to team members.”
