Nando’s is bringing back one of its hottest sauces, so hot in fact, that use of it comes with a ‘legal waiver’. The Vusa XX Hot sauce has returned to the restaurant, with ‘vusa’ meaning ‘excitement and fire’ in Zulu.
Part of the tongue-in-cheek contract reads: “I certify I’m fully aware it’s fiery, fierce and has earned its rightful place at the top of the PERi-ometer. I’ll enjoy the legendary taste, hot sweats and bragging rights - because every mouthful’s a madness.”
It goes on: “After consideration, I waive my rights to complain about any spicy side effects, including but not limited to, streaming eyes and panting in front of my mates (or date). As a safety precaution, I confirm I know where to find the Bottomless Froyo machine’.

The restaurant is also embracing new plant-based menu items, in a nod to many high street outlets which are encouraging ‘ veganuary ’. It’s launched a spiced chickpea-based range of dishes.
Principal among them is a spiced chickpea burger, made with chickpeas and spinach, served in a pitta, a wrap or as a burger. They’re all garnished with hummus, pink pickled onions, smoky red pepper chutney and lettuce.
The new dishes and the Vusa XX hot sauce are available from today (January 4).
