Nando's has announced the opening date for its second Swansea restaurant. The chicken chain is replacing the former Pizza Hut unit at Morfa Retail Park and will be able to sit 118 people indoors and 12 outside.
Its doors will open for the first time on February 1 for dine-in customers as well as offering delivery and collection options. As part of Nando’s working with South African based designers across all aspects of its restaurants, its Morfa branch will feature a striking two-storey mural created by Spamandla Mdunyelwa, Nando’s Young Hot Designer finalist.
A five-metre light installation inspired by the South African acacia sweet thorn plant will also pay homage to Nando’s heritage. The chain is best known for its flame grilled PERi-PERi chicken served or off the bone in a wrap, burger or pitta, and served with a selection of sides, salads, Firestarters and sharing platters. The company says the new restaurant - which will create 35 new jobs - will also feature solar panels on the roof, helping to reduce the restaurant’s reliance on grid generated power, and will also trial a new system that warms the restaurant from the heat of the grills. The new branch is Nando's second restaurant in Swansea, adding to its existing location on Wind Street.
Restaurant manager Claire Hooper said: “We’re looking forward to opening the doors to our stunning new Swansea Morfa restaurant, creating 35 new jobs in the area and bringing Nando’s famous PERi-PERi to the doorsteps of Swansea residents.” Nando’s Swansea Morfa restaurant will be open from February 1 from 11.30am-10pm seven days a week.
