Popular Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna on February 3 underwent a surgery for the rotator cuff tear of shoulder. Balayya, as he’s fondly called by his fans, sustained the injury on the sets of Krish-directed 2017 historic drama Gauthamiputra Satakarni. Due to his back-to-back commitments, Balakrishna couldn’t take time to attend to his shoulder and postponed the surgery plan on multiple occasions, only to make things worse. Recently, when he had issues with the shoulder again, he was immediately advised to undergo surgery.
“Over the last week or so, he was under tremendous pain and he had to call off shooting. This surgery wasn’t planned, but he had to undergo to deal with the pain. The surgery happened on Saturday evening under the supervision of doctors Deepti Nandanreddy and Ashish Babulkar. He has been asked to rest for a few days,” a source close to Balakrishna told Hindustan Times.
The 57-year-old actor, currently basking in the success of his Sankranti release Jai Simha, has begun shooting for the NTR biopic, in which he plays his late father and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
After months of contemplation, cinematographer-director Teja got the golden ticket to helm the prestigious project which will hit the screens next year. In December 2017, the team assembled at Hyderabad’s Ramakrishna Studios to shoot a special teaser to announce the commencement of the project. While the teaser is yet to be released, not long ago the makers teased us with a poster and officially announced the film’s title as NTR, and it shows the veteran standing on top of a vehicle in the middle of a traffic-clogged road. Going by the poster, NTR looked all set to make a speech presumably during an election campaign.
Interestingly, maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is also planning a biopic on the legendary actor.
