Nancy Pelosi's New Book Reveals Contentious Moments With Trump

Nancy Pelosi

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California, has released a new book titled 'The Art of Power: My Story as America's First Woman Speaker of the House Hardcover,' which delves into her tumultuous interactions with former President Trump.

In her memoir, Pelosi recounts a phone conversation with Trump just before she announced the impeachment inquiry into him over his call to the Ukrainian President. She described Trump's insistence that his call was 'perfect' and criticized his reaction to the impeachment announcement, calling him 'stupid.'

The impeachment proceedings against Trump stemmed from allegations that he pressured Ukraine to investigate his political opponent, Joe Biden, who was a leading candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. Despite being impeached, Trump was not convicted.

Another notable incident highlighted in Pelosi's book was her tearing up of Trump's State of the Union speech during a live broadcast in 2020. Pelosi explained that she had intended to mark pages containing lies with tears but found so many falsehoods that she tore up the entire speech.

Pelosi also shared a personal trauma in her book, detailing the night when an intruder broke into her San Francisco home in 2022 and fractured her husband's skull. She expressed the pain and distress caused by the media coverage of the incident, criticizing the inaccuracies and incomplete reporting that exacerbated the situation for her family.
