Former President Donald Trump recently made comments during a debate suggesting that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was responsible for the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol. Trump also alleged that Pelosi turned down 10,000 National Guard troops during the riot.

In response to these claims, a spokesperson for Pelosi, Ian Krager, emphasized that multiple independent fact-checkers have confirmed that Pelosi did not plan her own assassination on January 6th. The spokesperson clarified that the Speaker of the House is not in charge of the security of the Capitol Complex, including on January 6th.

Spokesperson clarifies Pelosi's lack of authority over Capitol security.
Trump falsely accuses Pelosi of orchestrating Capitol insurrection.
Claims dismissed as 'cherry-picked, out-of-context' by Pelosi's camp.

Krager dismissed Trump's assertions as 'cherry-picked, out-of-context clips' and labeled them as 'unhinged ravings of the instigator of the insurrection.' He criticized Trump and his allies for attempting to 'whitewash the deadly insurrection' and described their actions as 'pathetic.'

The spokesperson highlighted that the events of January 6th were a clear threat to democracy, and he expressed confidence that the American people could see through any attempts at revisionist history by Republicans.

Overall, Pelosi's camp remains steadfast in refuting Trump's claims and defending the Speaker's actions and responsibilities during the January 6 insurrection.
