A granny shot and killed a home intruder after warning him "back off, dude, I’ll shoot you.".
Virginia Morrison, 69, was sitting in her Florida home with her 80-year-old partner Charlie when the intruder came through the front door.
She described the man, 38-year-oldEzequiel Rosario-Torres as having a face that was a "total blank" and didn't say a word.
Virigina grabbed a broom and hit him twice in the face while yelling to Charlie to go grab a gun.
Charlie squeezed a shot off aiming near the intruder's feet before calling the police.
Rosario-Torres then retreated to the backyard, but refused to leave the property, Morrison said, so she went to get her own gun.
“I’ve been shooting guns since I was 10 years old — I grew up on a dairy farm in Tennessee. We had to know how to shoot rattlesnakes,'” Morrison told the Orlando Sentinel. “I’ve never had to pull a gun on anybody.'”
Morrison said she went back outside where Rosario-Torres still remained and they locked eyes.
He began advancing toward her.
“I went out the back door and I came to the fence and he sees me,” Morrison said. “He starts toward me. I fired a shot above him. ‘Back off, dude, I’ll shoot you.’ He just keeps coming toward me. So I shot him.”
First responders found him on the ground in a pool of blood, and he was later pronounced dead.
“I didn’t know what he was going to do, but I knew I was going to protect myself. I’m a fighter. I’m going to defend myself,” Morrison told FOX 35.
No charges have been filed against Morrison.
“That’s my main thing, wondering if God’s going to forgive me for taking a life. It bothers me,” she said.
