Steven Naismith and Frankie McAvoy have moved to clear up exactly what their roles are at Hearts.
The former was appointed as technical director at Tynecastle after an interim spell in charge last season following the sacking of Robbie Neilson, while McAvoy was promoted to the role of head coach.
Despite Naismith being in charge at the tail-end of last season, under UEFA rules, the former Scotland international does not have the relevant coaching qualifications to be recognised as a manager in European competitions yet.
As a result, the decisions over the technicality of Naismith and McAvoy's job titles were decided by the Tynecastle club.
It's something that could change in the future, with Naismith set to obtain his Pro Licence sooner rather than later.
But for now, the pair are happily carrying out their respective jobs, insisting that nothing has really changed for either.
"It's very much how it was last season," Naismith told Sky Sports. "The biggest reason we're here is because of how it worked last season. Yes, the roles are slightly different but the way we work is exactly the same.
"Going forward the club wanted us to be involved to try and continue what we did. The way we played and to get results for the club.
"Frankie is leading in terms of making decisions with the team, but day-to-day it's really what we did last season. It's very much a team thing. We've got Frankie who has different attributes to what I have and what Gordy Forrest has, to what Paul Gallagher has within the coaching team. We've all got an opinion and the decisions have all been made well.
"We had seven or eight weeks last season and we debate things, but there's never been a standoff.
"On the whole, with the bigger picture, we're all on the same page and it has been seamless so far."
Asked if their roles could change in the future, he replied: "It is something we have spoken about and for the longer term thing, there could be changes.
"For the here and now and what we are dealing with, and what we are happy to do, is this structure. I have that in place (a schedule in place for the pro license) and that will come into effect when it can and we move forward from that point."
McAvoy added: "There's a good dynamic between myself, Steven and Gordy. The only real difference is when we've got a difference of opinion in who we think should start and play then I'll make that decision. It's as simple as that.
"But we work together well in terms of how we want to set up and how we want our team to play."
