Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed serious concern over the ‘harrowing problems’ faced by devotees in getting sarva darshan tokens in Tirumala.
In a statement on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu criticised the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for not providing proper facilities to the women, children and elderly people who were waiting in long queues.
Incidents of jostling in the sarva darshan queue lines were reported on Tuesday, prompting the TDP chief to question the arrangements made by the TTD for devotees. “What was the TTD doing when thousands of devotees along with their infants and children were waiting in queue lines for hours together? It is condemnable that arrangements for drinking water and shade were not made for the devotees waiting for darshan tickets, he said, adding that the TTD should tender an apology to the devotees and take steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
