Nadiya Hussain Instagram: Bake Off star posts emotional video after panic attack leaves her ‘helpless’ and struggling to ‘breathe’

Nadiya Hussain posts emotional Instagram video after panic attack leaves her ‘helpless’ and struggling to ‘breathe’

Bake Off champion Nadiya Hussain has posted a video of herself in the aftermath of a panic attack, telling fans she was left “helpless” and unable to move.

Hussain, who suffers from panic disorder and anxiety, said she was struggling to breathe after being struck down “out of nowhere” by the “disgusting and embarrassing” attack on Monday night.

Posting alongside the video, Hussain wrote: “I'm sharing this video because as a mother as a wife as a 33-year-old woman I feel like I should have my s*** together but that's just me putting yet another judgement another expectation on myself and we are all guilty of doing that!”

Emotional: Nadiya Hussain said the attack left her feeling ashamed (Instagram/ Nadiya Hussain)

Hussain said the attack was so bad that her husband Abdal had to wash her and put her to bed.

“I always feel sad and ashamed that I let it get me again,” she wrote. “I’m paying for it today. I feel tired and feel like my body can’t move.

“For anyone who doesn’t know what it looks or feels like it’s scary and I just wanted to share that. So, if anyone is suffering, I get ya.”

Hussain said she would “bake” and “stay at home and enjoy being alive” in a bid to recover from the terrifying attack.

The post amassed over 30,000 likes in the first two hours of posting as fans inundated Hussain with praise for opening up about her struggle.

Many hailed her “amazing” while others told her to “stay strong”.

It is not the first time the mother-of-three previously opened up about battling anxiety, and admitted to conquering it by wearing an elastic band on her wrist while competing on Bake Off in 2015.

Speaking on Lorraine she said she would “snap” the band as a form of “shock therapy” to remind herself that her anxious thoughts were “not real”.
