Killer Daniel Murtagh is being segregated in prison after being told he’s a “dead man walking” after a savage attack.
The brute, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Nadine Lott, had been warned to keep quiet after throwing his weight around on the normally trouble free B1 landing of the Midlands Prison in Portlaoise.
The 34-year-old got “mouthy” and was attacked with a homemade shiv, slicing his face from his forehead to his chin.

A source said trained boxer Murtagh – who inflicted 64 injuries on Nadine – will now be kept away from other inmates in the Co Laois nick. He was transferred to the Midlands Prison last year after reportedly receiving death threats at Dublin’s Wheatfield jail.
The source told Irish Sunday Mirror: “Murtagh was being mouthy and cocky and throwing his weight around on the landing. There had been no trouble on the wing before he started mouthing off.
"He was warned to shut his mouth and he didn’t listen. No second warning is ever given. Next time it’s a physical attack.
“Now that he has been warned physically, if he were to step out of line again he would be killed. Prison staff are not willing to take that chance.
“He was attacked with a homemade shiv. Normally they are made by melting two razor blades on to a toothbrush.
“There is a small gap between the two blades which causes the most damage. When they are placed this way it’s very hard for a doctor to stitch up the injury. Murtagh will be left with a scar for life now.”
He was jailed for life for beating young mum Nadine to a pulp at her home in Arklow, Co Wicklow, in the early hours of December 14, 2019.
The savage attack on the 30-year-old caused her to lose teeth and disfigured her face. She never regained consciousness and died of her injuries in hospital.
