NAC suspends UFC heavyweight Walt Harris one year for drostanalone

UFC heavyweight Walt Harris won’t be permitted to fight until mid-2024.

Tuesday, a Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) official informed MMA Junkie the longtime UFC fighter received a one-year suspension and a $392.60 legal fee fine after a positive June 24 test for drostanalone and its metabolites. Since the test was out of competition, there was no purse fine.

Harris will be eligible to return June 24, 2024.

The positive test is the second of Harris’ career. In 2019, he tested positive for LGD4033, a muscle-wasting medication, due to a tainted supplement. He was suspended four months by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) and his UFC 232 win was overturned.

Harris, 40, was transparent about the positive test, so much so he announced the news himself when his UFC on ESPN 49 bout vs. Josh Parisian was canceled in July.
