The ceremony, taking place in Pasadena, California, will pay tribute to Black excellence in entertainment and culture while also acknowledging Altadena residents affected by recent Los Angeles wildfires.
The event will commence at 8 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. Pacific at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The ceremony will be hosted by comedian-actor Deon Cole and will be broadcast on BET and simulcast on CBS, as well as available live on various other networks.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris will be honored with the prestigious Chairman’s Award for her groundbreaking achievements as the first woman and person of color to serve as vice president. The award recognizes her relentless dedication to justice, equality, and societal betterment.
The Wayans family, known for their impact on film, TV, sketch, and stand-up comedy, will be inducted into the NAACP Awards Hall of Fame. Members of the family, including Keenen Ivory Wayans, Damon Wayans Sr., Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Kim Wayans, and Damon Wayans Jr., will be recognized for their contributions to shaping Hollywood both on and off screen.
Notable nominees for entertainer of the year include Kendrick Lamar, Cynthia Erivo, Keke Palmer, Kevin Hart, and Shannon Sharpe. The awards will also honor Dave Chappelle with the president's award for his thought-provoking humor, making him the first comedian to receive this prestigious recognition.
Additionally, music legend Quincy Jones will be honored by DJ D-Nice, and Grammy winner Ledisi will perform alongside the Adam Blackstone Band during the ceremony.
