At long last, Goldeneye 007 is coming to Nintendo Switch and Xbox Game Pass after all these years.
During the Nintendo Direct on Monday, developer Rare made the shocking announcement that Goldeneye 007 is getting a remaster — confirming reports from earlier this year. There’s no release date yet, but it’s apparently coming soon.
There are some slight differences between the ports of Goldeneye 007, it seems. The Nintendo Switch version will be available via Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription and contains online multiplayer functionality. Meanwhile, the Xbox Game Pass version has better visuals, though it seems multiplayer is only local.

“The original experience has been updated with improved control options (including dual analogue stick support), native 16:9 resolution up to 4K Ultra HD (where supported), a consistent refresh rate and a full complement of achievements to unlock,” Craig Duncan, studio head of Rare, said via Xbox Wire.
The Game Pass version of Goldeneye 007 will be available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Anyone that owns the Rare Replay collection will get the port for free too.
Despite some confusion surrounding features in this release, it’s great that Goldeneye 007 is coming back. Rumors about this port have been swirling for months, and the game has never had a re-release since the Nintendo 64 days.
