A Welsh lottery winner who has won £1million has come forward more than a month after their numbers came up. Camelot had launched a search after the ticket had gone unclaimed in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The winning ticket had matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in a draw on Easter Saturday, April 16. The winning Lotto numbers on that date were 2, 4, 6, 35, 55, 58 and the Bonus Ball was 44.
An search got underway when the prize was not claimed, but Camelot has confirmed that a claim has come forward and it will now go through the process of validation, which includes checks to ensure the games rules terms and conditions were adhered to.
Once the ticket has been validated and paid, the ticket-holder will then decide whether or not to go public and share their news.
Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “What amazing news for this lucky ticket-holder who has claimed their prize. We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process.
“We’re encouraging everyone to check their tickets online by downloading the National Lottery app or at national-lottery.co.uk. Players can also buy and check tickets in retail. Playing online via the app or website means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner.”
Players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.
There is also an ongoing search for another winner in Wales who could be celebrating in style after having won £10K a month for one year on the ‘Set For Life’ draw-based game.
The owner of the winning ticket, bought in Cardiff, matched the five main numbers in the Set For Life draw on Monday, April 18 2022 (Easter Monday). The winning Set For Life numbers on that date were 7, 9, 12, 31, 43 and the Life Ball was 7 . The lucky ticket-holder has until October 15, 2022 to claim their prize. More details are here.
While we most would love a £1million win, it pales into comparison to the couple who became UK's biggest-ever Lottery winners last week when they won a whopping £184million jackpot. Joe and Jess Thwaite, from Gloucester, scooped the record-breaking amount with a Lucky Dip ticket on the draw last week. Read here about what happened when they realised they had won.
