Homicide squad detectives are investigating the death of a man in a fire above a law office in Melbourne's south.
Emergency services were called to reports of a house fire on Chapel Street in St Kilda about 8.40pm on Wednesday.
Firefighters found a critically injured man inside the property, which contains both a legal firm and residential units.
The man, who is yet to be identified, was treated but died at the scene.
The exact circumstances surrounding the death, as well as the fire at the property, are yet to be determined and the blaze is being treated as suspicious.
A crime scene has been established and an arson chemist will assess the scene.
