A mystery object was spotted in Irish skies on Tuesday night, with people across the country reporting seeing a 'fireball'-like thing in the sky.
The unusual sighting has been reported to both Astronomy Ireland and the UK Meteor Network for further investigation.
Those who claimed to see it described it as "much bigger and brighter than your average shooting star". The sightings came after 11pm on Tuesday night, with people saying "it was crazy".

One person took to Reddit to share a video of what they saw over Cork and asked "surely I was not the only person to see this?"
They wrote: "I saw this out my window, it was crazy. I have see a lot of shooting stars when I was out walking the dog, but this was much brighter. I captured it on two security cameras.
"I filed a report with Astronomy Ireland and the UK meteor network. I am glad it came out on the cameras, otherwise I would have doubted I saw anything... Surely I was not the only person to see this?" they asked.
Many other users responded claiming they saw the mystery object also.
Astronomy Ireland confirmed to CorkBeo that it had received a number of reports from Tuesday night from across the country.
A spokesperson said: "We've had a couple of reports so far of a fireball sighting spanning from Cork to Dublin."
When asked to described a fireball, they added: "Fireballs are bits of space dust and debris that enter our atmosphere and burn up but normally don't completely disintegrate so there is always a possibility that a meteorite may have landed somewhere."
