Mystery as unexplained red light spotted in Nottinghamshire sky

A mysterious red light has been spotted over an area of Nottinghamshire.

The small red dot could be seen hovering in the dark sky above Strelley in the early hours of the morning earlier this week.

A video has captured the sight in the Broxtowe borough, which initially seems as though it could be a passing plane.

However, once the video zooms in the subject appears much brighter, and stays in the same spot for the remainder of the footage.

Despite appearing too small to be compared, the puzzling sighting coincided with the arrival of the Snow Moon above the East Midlands on Wednesday night.

The moon, also known as a Storm Moon, can appear orange in colour.
