Mystery as Glasgow restaurant removes signs and shuts doors

A RESTAURANT on a busy Glasgow street has suddenly shut its doors to the public and removed all of its signs.

Smashburger, located on Sauchiehall Street between Superdrug and Flying Tiger, has closed.

While it is listed on Google Maps as being “temporarily closed,” the store front has had all signage removed and it no longer appears as a location on Smashburger's website.

There is no note explaining why the store has shut, although Smashburger has been contacted for comment.

The restaurant first opened on Sauchiehall Street in 2017 and was the US chain’s first store in Scotland.

The only other store remaining in Scotland is in Dunfermline.
