A hunt is underway for a mystery Dunnes Stores shopper who paid for a stranger’s groceries.
The random act of kindness happened at the Ballyvolane store in Co Cork recently.
A woman popped in for a few essentials and went up to the tills to pay. Once all her shopping had been scanned, she came to the horrible realisation that she had forgotten her purse.

It was at that point that a hero stranger jumped in and paid her €26 fee without any fuss.
The extremely grateful shopper raced to fetch her purse and replay the kind stranger - but when she returned to Dunnes Stores within minutes, the woman had vanished without a trace.
A hunt is now underway to trace the kind woman, known only as Catherine.
Frederick Morris, the husband of the woman who'd forgotten her purse, took to the Ballyvolane Notice Board page saying: "My wife was in Ballyvolane Dunnes and got some shopping but once everything was scanned she realised she forgot her purse.
"A lovely woman, we think her name was Catherine, paid for her shopping. It came to about €26. My wife told her to wait outside while she rushed home to get money for the kind lady.
"She wasn't more than four minutes but when she went back the kind stranger was gone!
“We want to reach out to thank this lovely person and of course, give her back her money. Anybody who may know who she is, we would greatly appreciate it!"
People were full of praise for the random act of kindness.
Leona Lynch said: "The world needs more people like Catherine. What a lovely act of kindness from a stranger. Definitely pay it forward."
Trish Kelleher added: "Aww that's lovely! We need more people like Catherine. She will have great luck for being so kind!"
Martin Somers also said: "What a fabulous gesture from a complete stranger and especially at the present time when everything is so tough on everyone."
