Mysterious 'Banksy' painting appears in Scottish city

A MYSTERIOUS painting has appeared in Glasgow prompting some locals to wonder if Banksy has left his mark on the city.

The painting, which is around 80 George Street in Hillhead, in the city's West End, was first spotted by residents on Friday morning (January 31).

Resident Tom Watson sent pictures to the Glasgow Times asking: "Is this a Banksy?"

(Image: Tom Watson) The work shows a young boy wielding an axe looking as though he has damaged the parking sign which stands next to it.

There is also a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe next to him with what appears to be parking notices.

It's not the first time a piece of art has appeared in the city and left people wondering if the street artist and political activist has been in Glasgow.

A painting appeared in Springfield Court in June 2023 depicting a rat donning a sash and Union Jack hat banging a drum that read "God Save the King."

The real name and identity of Banksy remains unconfirmed and is the subject of speculation.
