Mysterious anti-PSNI poster appears on Co Down bus stop

A bizarre poster expressing anti-PSNI sentiment has appeared on a bus stop in Saintfield.

It is believed the poster may have been put up at the bus stop within the last week or two.

There is no further context or clue as to why the culprit attached it or what the back story to it may be.

The poster reads: "This is a PSNI officer and he's going to come to you.

"He'll twist legislation or lie outright to give himself an excuse to detain, question or search you and treat his oath as flexible.

"If you object to his illegal actions or call him out on them he'll find some way to screw you on bogus or spurious charges.

"Both he and his superiors really, really, really, care about your rights and whether you are innocent or not!!!!!!".

The PSNI confirmed it had been made aware of the poster.

"Police are aware of a suspicious poster in the Saintfield area," a spokesperson said.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."

Local Alliance Councillor David Lee-Surginor strongly condemned the poster.

"Such actions are not only disrespectful and offensive but also pose a threat to the stability and security of the region," he said.

"Alliance believes in the importance of law enforcement agencies and their crucial role in maintaining peace and safety in society.

"Targeting the PSNI undermines the efforts to foster trust, cooperation, and reconciliation in Northern Ireland.

"I would call on all individuals and communities to reject such divisive and harmful acts and continue working towards building a united, inclusive, and peaceful society."
