Indiana Pacers' center Myles Turner was forced to exit the game early in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night after an accidental collision with teammate Bennedict Mathurin. The incident occurred when Turner was going for a rebound and was inadvertently struck in the face by Mathurin.
Following the impact, Turner immediately signaled that he needed to come out of the game. He was then assisted off the court by two Indiana staffers after appearing visibly shaken. Turner did not return to the game and was subsequently placed in concussion evaluation.
Head coach Rick Carlisle provided an update on Turner's condition, stating that the center had been hit in the jaw and that his status for future games would depend on how he was feeling the following day.
Despite Turner's absence, the Pacers managed to secure a 119-112 victory over the Clippers. Mathurin, who inadvertently collided with Turner, contributed significantly to the win by scoring 25 points during the game.
Myles Turner, who is currently in his 10th season with the Pacers, holds the franchise record for blocked shots. His presence on the court has been instrumental to the team's success over the years.
The Indiana Pacers will closely monitor Turner's condition as he undergoes further evaluation following the incident. The team will provide updates on his status as more information becomes available.
