Myles Garrett getting advice from another Cleveland superstar on how to use his voice

Reigning Defensive Player of the Year and Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett told the media he’s received advice from NBA superstar LeBron James about advocating for himself and the team with upper management.

Garrett made headlines last week when he told reporters that he wanted assurances from the Browns to compete for the Super Bowl for the next few seasons or he would request a trade. Garrett said, “[James] has seen everything on the sports side of it. His advice has been very valuable.”

Garrett also mentioned that he’s listening to James’ team of advisors including super-agent Rich Paul and businessman Mav Carter.

James helped pioneer the player empowerment era with his move to the Miami Heat nearly 15 years ago. He has helped rebuild multiple teams since then, although not all of his roster construction ideas worked, nor were all of them listened to.

Hopefully, Garrett has received good advice from James. The 28-year-old was involved in one of the Browns’ rebuilds and has no interest in finishing his career in the middle of another. Garrett stated he had early discussions with the Browns’ brass. The Browns must do everything they can to build a championship team around him.
