Mykhaylo Mudryk watched Arsenal beat Brighton as the Gunners prepare an improved bid for the Shakhtar Donetsk winger at the start of 2023.
Mudryk posted an image on his Instagram of himself watching Arsenal as they moved seven points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with victory at Brighton.
Arsenal have had an opening bid of around £55million for Mudryk rejected by Shakhtar, who are holding out for a much higher fee for the Ukraine international.
Talks between Arsenal and Shakhtar are ongoing and Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer when the January transfer window opens.
Mudryk is keen on a move to Emirates Stadium and wanted the world to know he was tuning in to watch Arsenal again on New Year’s Eve.
Watching Arsenal beat Brighton 4-2 on his tablet, he posted an image of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, who he played under at Shakhtar, with the caption: “2 top coach”.
Mudryk also posted an image on Boxing Day of himself watching Arsenal beat West Ham 3-1.
Arsenal want to sign 21-year-old Mudryk to strengthen their title bid.
The Gunners were handed an unexpected boost in the title race on New Year’s Eve when Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Everton.
That result gave Arsenal the chance to end 2022 seven points clear at the top ahead of their trip to Brighton.
