Mykhaylo Mudryk explains move to ‘very attractive’ Chelsea as Arsenal miss out on top target

Mykhaylo Mudryk believes he has joined a “very attractive project’ at Chelsea after sealing his move to Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old has joined the Blues from Shakhtar Donetsk for £89m, signing an eight-and-a-half year contract in west London.

A move to Arsenal appeared to be almost certain for Mudryk but Chelsea acted swiftly and met Shakhtar’s valuation as they made their fifth signing of the January transfer window.

Mudryk was in attendance at Stamford Bridge on Sunday as his new team-mates faced Crystal Palace, having completed his medical earlier in the day.

Speaking for the first time after the deal was confirmed, Mudryk spoke of his excitement to make the move to the Premier League.

“I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea,’ Mudryk told the club’s official website.

“This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.”
