A green laser was spotted being aimed at Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk during the Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. The Ukraine international was close to sealing a move to the Gunners before the Blues hijacked the deal and secured an £88million deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Mudryk started the game as a substitute before replacing Raheem Sterling in the 71st minute. The 22-year-old looked bright during his time on the pitch but was unable to help Chelsea avoid defeat against Mikel Arteta's side.
Frank Lampard admitted Mudryk is a long-term project for the west Londoners after he has struggled to prove why the club spent £88million to bring him to the club in January. The Ukrainian winger was targeted with the green laser throughout his 20-minute cameo against the Gunners.

This is not the first time a laser has been spotted being aimed at a player during a match. In 2020, The Football Association (FA) were fined €30,000 (£25,630) after a laser pointer was directed at the Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel during England’s Euro 2020 semi-final win.
Mudryk was first spotted being bathed in a green light as he lined up to take a free-kick during the second-half of the game. Mudryk created more chances (three) than any Chelsea or Arsenal player in the 19 minutes he played.
Moments later as he drove forwards with the ball, taking on Arsenal defender Ben White, TV footage captured the green laser following his run and catching glimpses of the light across his face. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal, Chelsea or the Premier League release a statement regarding the incident which has no place at a football match.
