Mykhailo Mudryk sends first message to Chelsea fans after completing £88m transfer

Chelsea's latest signing Mykhailo Mudryk has sent a message to supporters after completing an £88million transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk. Mudryk becomes the fifth player to secure a move to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana have all sealed moves to Chelsea this month. More signings are expected for the Blues as Graham Potter continues to reshape his squad mid-season.

Chelsea hijacked Arsenal's move for the Ukraine international after sending a delegation to meet with Shakhtar chiefs, with Potter having had a phone call with Mudryk to convince him to join the west London club ahead of the Premier League leaders. The 22-year-old was unveiled to fans at half-time in the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Mudryk walked onto the pitch to be welcomed by fans with a Ukraine flag wrapped around his shoulders as he wore the Chelsea shirt for the first time. The Ukraine international has signed an eight-and-a-half year contract and is set to wear the No.15 jersey.

Mudryk has now sent his first message to fans as he prepares to train with his new teammates ahead of their trip to Anfield to face Liverpool next weekend. The £88million signing said: "Hi guys, I'm very happy to be here. I can't wait to see you all!"

Graham Potter discussed Chelsea's move for Mudryk after the win as he praised the 22-year-old's attributes. Potter said: “You're never surprised in the transfer window because things happen when you don't expect them to happen.

"In terms of what he brings, he’s a player with a big future, exciting, one vs one, he's very direct, he attacks the back-line, can go into wide areas but also affects the goal. A really exciting player and I think our supporters will really like him."
