Myanmar quake death toll crosses 1000

Naypyidaw: The death toll has mounted to over 1,000, while more than 2,400 people have been reported injured, after two massive earthquakes ravaged Myanmar and its neighbouring Thailand on Friday afternoon. 

Besides, the earthquakes also rocked down several buildings, bridges, and a Buddhist monastery.

Thailand Too Hit

In Thailand's capital Bangkok at least 10 people died after a high-rise building under construction collapsed due to the earthquake tremors.

Officials in Bangkok said that 10 people were killed, 16 injured and over 100 people were missing after three construction sites, including a high-rise building, collapsed.

Earthquakes rocked down several buildings

India Sends Relief Material

India has sent several tonnes of relief material to Myanmar. 

Indian Air Force's C-130J Super Hercules aircraft took off from Hindon Air Force Station for Myanmar carrying relief material, which included tents, sleeping bags, blankets, ready-to-eat meals, water purifiers, sanitation kits, solar lamps, generator sets, essential medicines (paracetamol, antibiotics, cannulas, syringes, gloves, cotton bandages, urine bags, etc).

UN Aid

The United Nations has given $5 million for relief and rescue operations in Myanmar.
