'My unique birthmark is my twin's footprint from when she kicked me in the womb'

A teenager has explained how the unique birthmark on her face is actually her twin's footprint from when they were together in the womb.

Lexi Walker, 18, says she has a "special connection" to her sister, Kiara because of it.

Kiara's foot was pressed against Lexi's cheek in the weeks before they both arrived - leaving an imprint where the blood vessels formed differently.

Lexi says she used to feel insecure about the mark on her face - but now has embraced it.

She sees it as a special way of staying connected to her sister, even though they live nine hours apart with Lexi in Kipling, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Kiara in Alberta, Canada.

Lexi, a financial manager, said: "I do get funny looks - sometimes people just stop and stare or ask questions.

"When I was younger my family would uplift me to help me love it - I got told it was an angel's kiss and it makes me unique.

"When I tell people how I actually got it, they're always in shock - it's crazy."

But Lexi saya in recent years she has grown to love the unique mark because it connects her to Kiara.

Lexi said: "We are extremely close - she is my best friend. We call each other soulmates and I think we are - we're inseparable.

"I could have the birthmark removed, but it's a part of me and it connects me to her so I won't take that route.

"I'm a strong believer of 'if you're born with it, you shouldn't change it'.

"But especially with it being created by her, that means even more - it's very meaningful to me."

Sharing the story on TikTok, Lexi amassed more than 11.5 million views on the video.

And despite having had negative comments made about her birthmark in the past, many followers said uplifting things.

One said: "Honestly that's main character energy. The girl with the footprint birthmark."

A second said: "Wait how did this happen? I'm having twins and that's honestly so cool."

A third added: "Bro that's literally amazing, so cute - it's in a great spot too."

Lexi said: "I'm still dumbfounded by all the comments and attention it's got.

"My self-confidence has gone up so much from everyone, it's incredible. I never expected this outcome."
