'My sort of player' - What former West Ham man likes about Jarrod Bowen after Arsenal display

Harry Redknapp says he is a “huge fan” of Jarrod Bowen after the West Ham winger played a starring role in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal.

Bowen scored the equalising goal in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the London Stadium after Arsenal went two goals up in just ten minutes. Said Benrahma converted from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit before half-time, with Bukayo Saka missing his second-half spot kick moments before Bowen struck.

The England international latched onto a lofted pass into the box from Thilo Kehrer to fire in a volley past Aaron Ramsdale to draw West Ham level. David Moyes’ side had chances to claim all three points, with Michail Antonio going closest to a winner when his header struck the woodwork late on, but the game finished 2-2.

After Bowen’s goal secured a valuable point, one which puts West Ham four points ahead of the relegation zone, former Hammers boss Harry Redknapp included the England international in his Premier League team of the week. Redknapp told BetVictor: “I’m a huge fan of Jarrod Bowen, he’s my sort of player. He’s quick, a great finisher and he works his socks off.

“What I like about Jarrod is his movement, he doesn’t just stand on the wing, he’s constantly making runs inside, in between the centre-half and the full-back. He took his goal brilliantly against Arsenal, that wasn’t an easy finish.”

Bowen was the only West Ham representative in Redknapp’s XI. He was named in a midfield four that included Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma.

Man United and Aston Villa had two players named in the line-up, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Alex Moreno named in a four-man defence alongside Wolverhamton Wanderers’ Max Kilman and John Stones of Manchester City. Fulham’s Bernd Leno was named in goal.

Up front, Redknapp went for Ollie Watkins and named the Villa striker his star man after his brace in a 3-0 win against Newcastle United. Dominic Solanke contributed a goal and two assists in Bournemouth’s 3-2 win at Tottenham Hotspur and has also been named in the line-up.

Harry Redknapp’s Team of the Week: Bernd Leno (Fulham), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United), Max Kilman (Wolves), John Stones (Manchester City), Alex Moreno (Aston Villa), Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton), Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)*
