'My selfish sister is missing my wedding reception to put her baby to bed - I'm fuming'

A bride has confessed her rage after her sister admitted she's missing the wedding reception in order to bathe her baby and put the little one to bed.

The bride's sister has no remorse that she'll be missing the first dance and cutting of the cake to ensure that her child's regular bedtime routine isn't interrupted.

Taking to the popular forum site Mumsnet, the bride-to-be sought advice from fellow users over whether it's appropriate to ask her sibling whether she can stay longer for the 'main bits'.

Explaining the situation, she wrote: "I'm getting married next month. My sister is staying in the on-site accom with my nephew who will be almost three."

The woman went on: "She was asking about accom facilities, and said something along the lines of 'well of course we'll miss the first dance/cake cutting as we need to take nephew off to do bathtime and bedtime routine before 7pm bedtime'.

"I thought for a one-off they could've stayed a bit longer?! Skipped bath maybe?! Was trying not to pull too much of a face but just seemed very over the top to me!

"Was thinking of asking if they could stay a bit longer for the main bits but not sure how well that will go down."

Since sharing her concerns online, the woman's thread has received over 60 comments to date - where people were torn over the actions of the bride's sister.

One person assured her: "You are not being unreasonable. She could definitely let him stay up til 8-9pm or later at almost three. Some people are totally inflexible about their baby/toddler routines however and will not budge."

On the other hand, someone else admitted: "I couldn't get worked up about this. Just let them do what they want."

A second person agreed: "Honestly my best wedding advice is don’t worry about what anyone else does throughout the day. You won’t notice if they're there or not."
