'My nose fell off after botched lip fillers cut off blood supply and mummified me'

A man who wanted lip fillers claims part of his nose fell off after becoming 'mummified' when the procedure was botched.

Thiago Delgado, 35, went to a dentist in Angra dos Reis, Costa Verde do Rio in Brazil but claims the practitioner looked "nervous" before injecting the fillers.

According to Thiago, the dentist used hyaluronic acid on his upper lip. But as it was injected, the pain was instant. Then when the dentist started massaging his lip, it "hurt a lot."

After being sent home with medication, Thiago says he was in unbearable pain and he called the dentist back the next day. He claims the dentist told him there had been a complication during the procedure.

Thiago said: "He made a video call with another man, who he called master.

"He didn't know what to do, he was listening to what this guy was saying.

"Out of nowhere, another dentist appeared that I had never seen and only then was I told there was a complication."

As the days passed, Thiago noticed his nose was looking strange and went to see a dermatologist to check the damage.

To his horror, the 35-year-old was told part of his nose had become "mummified" due to lack of blood supply.

After having emergency treatment, his medical team was able to recover part of Thiago's lip, but he was left in so much pain he felt suicidal.

He said: “I even asked God to take my life because of so much pain I felt.

"My face will never go back to what it was.”

Now, he faces astronomical costs to pay for surgery to get his face back to how it used to look.

Thiago's friends have offered to donate what they can to help pay for the operations, and he's sold his motorcycle and some furniture too.

He said: "The surgery will remove cartilage behind my ear to put on the wing of my nose and, from my cheek, he will also remove it, to be able to cover the flap.

"He said that the closer you take it to where it was necrotised, the less chance of rejection.”

He said the procedure has damaged his self-confidence so much he has a “crying fit” every day and intends to take the dentist to court.

Police Chief Vilson de Almeida Silva said his force are awaiting reports to determine if there was medical negligence.

He said: "We are awaiting the expert report as this will help to understand if there was medical negligence.

"We are already listening to the parties involved."
