'My mummy gave away Golden Boot award to Bargain Hunt' - Liam Boyce

Liam Boyce admits he barely has any of the awards he won during his impressive career - because his mummy keeps giving them away!

The 31-year-old won back-to-back league titles with Cliftonville alongside two League Cups and a County Antrim Shield.

He also won the Scottish League Cup with Ross County and finished with Golden Boots in both Northern Ireland and Scotland, not to mention Player of the Year and Month gongs.

Boyce says he only has memories of his achievements, as most of his trophies have been given away.

One award he would love back is the Irish League Golden Boot he received for finishing top of the scoring charts back in 2012/13 when Cliftonville clinched the first of their back-to-back Premiership titles.

He plundered 29 goals that year, but now the whereabouts of the trophy are unknown.

He told Belfast Live's That's What I Call Football podcast : "I won the top goalscorer award in the Irish League, so I had that trophy.

"But some rocket from Bargain Hunt or something was in Divis. I don't know why they were in Divis.

"They called at my mummy's house and asked if she had anything, and that they were doing something for charity. My mummy gave them my Irish League Golden Boot trophy.

"They sold it for about £60. So if anyone hears this, I want to buy it back!"

He added: "I would be surprised if I have any trophies left. We used to have the Player of the Year and Player of the Month awards and all that, and my mummy had a wee stand for them.

"I would be surprised if there are any left, because when anyone calls at the door asking for a jersey or something, my mummy is like, 'I don't have a top but here's a Player of the Month trophy'.

"Someone is bound to have the Golden Boot trophy - I want it back. My mate actually sent me a clip of it on the BBC or whatever.

"My da is standing there saying 'here, take this'. And the guy walks away.

"I was just thinking 'what are you doing?'."

Boyce also finished top scorer in the Scottish Premiership back in 2016/17 following a stellar season for Ross County.

The 31-year-old bagged an impressive 23 goals, finishing above the likes of Celtic pair Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele.

Despite his exploits in front of goal, Boyce didn't even receive an official award.

"I never got one for the Scottish one. They must have stopped doing them," he said.

"I think they used to do it but then stopped and they just presented the Player of the Year trophy.

"My agent Stevie Whelan ended up getting me one, because I never got an official trophy. It is a good thing he did that for me, but you obviously want an official one to put alongside the Irish League one.

"But now I have none."
