The latest season of My Mum, Your Dad, the totally wholesome and highly amusing TV show that see’s single parents rock up to a romantic resort in the English countryside is officially back, and it’s just in time for cuffing season.
The first episode premiered on ITV on September 16, with nine new couples including a mindset coach, teacher and radio presenter arriving at the West Sussex manor for season 2 of the show.
Parents will look in search of love under the watchful eye of their hopeful children and our own eager viewing, but unlike season one, this time parents have willingly signed up to the show.
Hosted by TV fave Davina McCall, here’s everything you need to know about the couples.
Clare and Aimee, West Sussex
A full-time mum and charity volunteer, Clare, 53, is entering the single’s retreat with her daughter Aimee, 26, who says it's time for her mum to put herself first.
Having broken up with Aimee’s dad and facing the empty nest alone, Clare is keen to find love, but will be on the lookout for any red flags with the help of Aimee.
“I've been a full-time mum for 26 years so this is a big change. I'd love to be in a relationship, it needs to be about me now."
Andy and Issy, South Staffordshire
Andy’s daughter Issy, 19, gives her dad rave views ahead of his screen time, describing him as “very funny, very witty, outgoing and friendly.”
After years spent caring for daughters and elderly parents, who are fans of the show, the 50-year-old property developer is ready to prioritise his love life, describing himself as secretly sensitive.
Jenny and Malachi, Cheshire
Having been single for 14 years, 51-year-old Jenny has described the show as a “last ditch attempt at finding love.”
Tired of swiping through dating apps, describing the men she met on them as either needy or players, the operations manager is joined by her son Malachi, 19, who thought this might be a more wholesome way for his mum to meet that special someone.
Christian and Lucas, Lake District
A self-described huge romantic, mindset coach Christian was encouraged to enter the show by his ex partner and mum to his son, Lucas, 17 after being single for the past two years. A green flag, we think?
Lucas says his 46-year-old dad is “made for TV” thanks to his passion for making YouTube videos.
Maria and Livia, Surrey
It’s not just love that event producer and radio presenter Maria is looking for, but friendship too, saying she’s excited to meet new people on the show. “You're still going to form bonds and relationships regardless of whether it's a romantic one."
The 50-year-old has admitted that dating life is in shambles, but her daughter Livia, 19, says her mum simply needs to stop being so fussy. Guess we’ll be the judges of that.
Danny and Ellis, Sussex
Despite describing himself as awkward when it comes to dating, the 49-year-old is forcing himself to get out of his comfort zone with his foray into TV.
His son Ellis, 21, has said his dad needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and get out there. Taking his advice and deciding to say yes to everything, sales controller Danny is entering the show after seven years of no dating. Quite the leap indeed.
Vicky and Angharad, South Wales
Having left her first marriage, assistant principal Vicky says the reason she’s been single for the past 10 years is down to the fact that she constantly gets the “ick” from dating. Don’t we all Vicky.
Joined by her daughter Angharad, 28, who hopes the show could be a second chance at love for her mum, the 50-year-old has said she’s choosing to leave her fate in the hands of ITV’s producers. No pressure!
David and Tiana, Bristol
David’s love of his kids, the gym and karate has seen his dating life fall to the wayside. “I put my life on hold to bring up my kids but now it’s time to focus on me,” said the 50-year-old who was encouraged to sign up for the show after watching it himself.
His daughter Tiana, 21, will be joining the property manager who she describes as a big softie on the inside.
Chris and Ava, Kingston upon Hull
After being single for 7 years, property director and bar owner Chris is ready to trade it in and settle down again after being with his ex since he was a teenager until their seperation.
Having been signed up to the show by his daughter Ava, 17, Chris has made no secret that his kids come first. The 47-year-old said if his partner doesn’t get along with them, “it’s game over.”
